Terms of service

Last updated: September 4, 2026. These terms govern your use of the KilnSeat application and of this website.

1. Acceptance

These terms form an agreement between MLJ, SASU, a French simplified joint stock company registered in Paris under SIREN 934 769 837 and publisher of KilnSeat, and the business that subscribes to the service. By creating an account, submitting an enquiry that leads to an account, or using KilnSeat in any way, you accept these terms on behalf of your studio. If you are not authorized to bind your studio, do not accept them. If you disagree with any part, the correct course is to stop using the service and write to us.

2. The service

KilnSeat is a hosted web application for community pottery and ceramics studios. It provides membership plans and recurring dues billing, wheel and table booking against real studio capacity, class and course registration with waitlists, shelf and bay allocation with expiry dates, a member facing kiln firing queue with pickup notifications, and material and firing charges posted to a member account. Availability of specific capabilities depends on the plan you subscribe to, as described on the pricing section of the home page. We may add, improve or retire individual capabilities over time, and we give notice before removing anything material.

3. Account and eligibility

You must be at least eighteen years old and operating a business or a nonprofit organization to hold an account. You are responsible for the accuracy of your account details, for the security of every login you create for your staff and instructors, and for everything done under those logins. Tell us promptly if you believe a credential has been compromised. Each subscription covers one studio organization, though the Studio and School plan allows additional physical locations under one login as described on the pricing section.

4. Acceptable use

You agree to use KilnSeat lawfully and in a way that does not harm the service or other subscribers. You will not attempt to gain access to accounts, data or infrastructure that is not yours, will not probe or stress the service beyond ordinary use, will not resell or sublicense access, and will not use the service to send unsolicited bulk messages to people who have not agreed to hear from your studio. You will not upload malicious code, and you will not use automated means to extract the application for the purpose of building a competing product. We may suspend an account that is causing harm, and we will explain why when we do.

5. Subscription and billing

KilnSeat is sold on three monthly plans in United States dollars: Small Studio at $39 per month for up to 45 active members, Studio at $85 per month for up to 160 active members, and Studio and School at $169 per month with unlimited members and students. Prices exclude any sales tax or value added tax that may apply to your jurisdiction. Your subscription renews automatically each month on the anniversary of your start date until you cancel it. If your active member count exceeds your plan's limit for two consecutive months, we will contact you before moving you to the plan that fits. Price changes are notified at least sixty days in advance and never apply retroactively to a period you have already paid for.

Payment is taken by card on the renewal date. If a payment fails, we retry twice over the following seven days and email you a link to update the card. If payment has still not been received fourteen days after the renewal date, we may suspend access until the balance is settled. Suspension does not delete your data.

6. Cancellation

You may cancel at any time from the billing page in your account, with no cancellation fee and no notice period. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the month you have already paid for, and you keep full access until that date. We do not provide prorated refunds for partial months, except where required by applicable consumer law or where an outage on our side made the service unusable for a substantial part of the month. Before your access ends, you can export your members, classes, firings and invoices as CSV files. We may terminate an account for a serious or repeated breach of section 4, with notice and an opportunity to correct the problem where the circumstances allow.

7. Your data

Everything you and your members put into KilnSeat remains yours. That includes member records, class rosters, firing logs, shelf assignments and billing history. We process that data only to operate the service for you, to support you when you ask, and to meet legal obligations. We do not sell it, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not use it to train models. You are the controller of your members' personal information and you are responsible for having a lawful basis to collect it and for giving your members appropriate notice. Production data is deleted within thirty days of account closure, and backups age out within a further sixty days.

8. Service availability

We aim for 99.9 percent monthly availability outside planned maintenance, and we schedule maintenance outside United States studio hours wherever possible. Status and incident notes are published and account owners are emailed about anything that interrupts booking, billing or kiln queue functions. The service depends on third parties including our hosting provider and your payment processor, and interruptions originating with them are outside our direct control, though we will keep you informed and work to restore service.

9. Warranty disclaimer

KilnSeat is provided on an as is and as available basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, entirely error free, or that it will meet every requirement your studio has. Nothing in this section limits rights that cannot be limited under the mandatory law applying to you.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither party is liable to the other for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, including lost profits, lost revenue, lost membership income or loss of goodwill, even if advised such loss was possible. Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to these terms is limited to the total fees you paid us in the twelve months immediately before the event giving rise to the claim. These limits do not apply to liability for fraud, willful misconduct, or any liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless MLJ, SASU and its director against claims, damages and reasonable costs arising from your unlawful use of the service, your breach of section 4, or your failure to meet your own obligations to your members regarding their personal information. We will notify you promptly of any claim covered by this section and give you reasonable cooperation in its defense.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms to reflect changes in the service or in the law. Material changes are emailed to account owners at least thirty days before they take effect, and the last updated date at the top of this page always reflects the version in force. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept the revised terms. If you do not accept them, you may cancel before the effective date and we will refund any prepaid period.

13. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by French law. Any dispute that cannot be settled amicably will be brought before the competent courts of Paris, France. Where you are a consumer rather than a business, mandatory protections available to you in your country of residence continue to apply and nothing here removes them.

14. Contact

Questions about these terms go to jimenezjulien42@gmail.com. Company details are set out in full on the legal notice, and data handling is described in the privacy policy.
